I dont know what your problem is but I've personally never gotten windows to recognize my usb in my lenovo laptop. Look for a guide to your computer and usb startup creator. Also, if I am using a small flash drive I just plug into the usb port on the back of the laptop. I have never had to use external hard drive.
All you do is enter "Administrator" as the username and leave the password blank in the next window, then select "Remember Password". When you reboot, the screen will ask you for the username and password, which are the same as when you first set Up Windows. After entering the correct username, scroll down to the box with the Ubuntu 10 option and press enter.
HelloFirst of all, never take the advice of someone who hasn't even built a Live USB system from scratch. Dump the LiveUSB and go erase the drives and use that USB to build your system. The live system doesn't know how to use those external drives. Also, for the live USB to work, the computer must be plugged into the power supply and have the power on.After that, just follow the directions in the LiveUSB installer and you should be all set.
There are two flavors of all this stuff. You have LiveUSB, and you have UEFI USB that lets you boot Linux directly from a USB stick with no BIOS stuff. LiveUSb was a bit of a problem. You had to boot from a computer that was already on. This doesn't involve the BIOS. That is a lot of fuss for a LiveUSB with all these built-in tools. d2c66b5586
