If you don't have the BitTorrent client, you don't need to reinstall Windows via Windows update. You can download the latest version of BitTorrent (which is officially called Transmission). You also may want to check your firewall settings - make sure that none of your other apps have control over the necessary ports.
Make sure it's checked, and also, make sure that the directory is selected in the left panel. Then, browse for the "bin" directory. There should be a file listed called BitCrypt.exe (if you installed via package, this might be zipped or something). Drag and drop the file to the "bin" folder to unzip it. Then, (optionally), look in the extracted folder for the files "install.ini" and "install.log" - you should find them there. (It's a simple text file... it'll have "Helen" in the first line). After that, just click "Next" and follow the installation wizard.
